Yield: A 52 lb. (23.6 kg) bag of IPATOP RM yields about 0.5 cubic feet (14.2 L) of material at the plastic consistency. Up to 25 lbs. (11.3 kg) of washed pea gravel may be added per bag of IPATOP RM in applications where compression and bond strengths are not critical. Packaging: IPATOP RM is packaged in 52 lb. Bags (23.6 kg). Surface Preparation:Surface to be repaired must be cleaned of any film, scale, loose material, oils, grease and any other foreign material that will prohibit bond. Surface preparation may be accomplished by accepted sand or water blast, mechanical or chemical methods. ICRI Technical Guideline No. 03730 for surface preparation should be followed. This guideline can be found in the 1999 Concrete Repair Manual published jointly by ICRI and ACI. Flush thoroughly with water. Area to be repaired should be saturated with water prior to application; excess water should be removed. Mixing Instructions:Mixing may be done manually (small quantity) or mechanically (Jiffy® mixer or mortar mixer). If hand mixed assure thorough intermixing of material. Use the following amounts of clean potable water per 52 lb. (23.6 kg) bag of IPATOP RM. Mix thoroughly. Continue to mix for an additional 2 to 3 minutes after desired consistency is achieved. Application:IPATOP RM should be placed using concrete repair practices appropriate for the application. Substrate should be prepared by scrubbing a slurry coat of same material into the surface (add minimal water to a working quantity of IPATOP RM to achieve slurry consistency). Consolidate IPATOP RM repair mortar using pencil vibrator or by rodding thoroughly to remove voids. Screed to align repair surface with surrounding edges. Repaired area should be troweled and finished to seal the surface and repair edges. Then apply broom finish if desired. When making larger pours, subsequent batches should be pre-mixed to permit continuous placement of mortar. Working or “open time” is approximately 30 minutes at 70°F (21.1°C). If forms are used they may be removed, after 24 hours. Curing:Curing of IPATOP RM should be accomplished using the latest ACI standards for concrete curing. Seven day water mist or wet burlap secured under poly-sheeting will usually provide the best curing conditions. Clean-up:Cleanup must be done immediately due to high bonding characteristics of IPATOP RM. Clean equipment with water. Limitations:Do not install IPATOP RM unless substrate and air temperature are at least 40°F (4.4°C) and rising for the next 48 hours. Do not apply to a frozen surface. DO NOT USE SOLVENT BASED CURING COMPOUNDS. Care must be taken to insure proper concrete practices are used in preparation, mixing, placing and curing. Shelf life is one year in unopened bag. Dry storage is required. CAUTION – FOR INDUSTRIAL USE ONLY:Freshly mixed cement, mortar, grout, or concrete may cause minor skin irritation. Avoid direct contact where possible and wash exposed skin areas promptly with water. If any of the cementitious material get into the eyes, rinse immediately and repeatedly with water. If irritation persists, obtain medical assistance. See MSDS for additional safety information. WARRANTY This product is warranted and guaranteed to be of good quality.
