Installation:

Surface Preparation:

Surface to be repaired must be cleaned of any film, scale, loose material, oils, grease and any other foreign material that will prohibit bond.  Surface preparation may be accomplished by accepted water blast, mechanical or chemical methods.  Flush thoroughly with water.  Slick surfaces such as ceramic tile, hard troweled concrete or terrazzo should be sanded, shot-blasted, scarified or otherwise roughened to improve mechanical bonding.

LEVELALL will chemically combine with primer in bonding. Substrate must not be weak or hollow. Wooden floors must be:

  1. Thoroughly cleaned

  2. Patched with LEVELALL Repair Mortar to prevent underlayment from leaking through the floor.

  3. Reinforced with securely nailed expanded wire lath.

Surface Priming:

Mix LEVELALL Primer according to instructions and apply with a soft broom, roller or spray equipment.  Allow primer to dry.  Recoat if necessary.  Porous surfaces may require a second coat.  See Primer data sheet for additional information.

Mixing Instructions:

For LEVELALL Repair Mortar: Use approximately 4 quarts (3.8 L) of water to achieve a plastic consistency.  Complete incidental patching where necessary.

For LEVELALL Topping or Underlayment: Place the mixing water (6 quarts (5.7 L) per bag) in the mixing vessel.  An empty 5 gallon (18.9 L) pail or mortar mixer is appropriate.  Add the LEVELALL to the water as the mixture is blended with a drill motor and paddle or mortar mixer.

Placing Topping or Underlayment:

Insure that sufficient personnel and equipment are available to allow continuous placement of the material to avoid ridges between batches.  Place in strips across the narrow dimension of the area.  Maximum area should not exceed approximately 15’ x 30’ (4.6 m x 9.1 m).  Use wooden strips or equivalent to form the lanes.  When pumping LEVELALL consult IPA Systems, Inc. for suitable grout pump recommendations.

Curing:

Material is self curing under most conditions.  However, it must be protected from conditions that will cause rapid drying such as wind, high temperature, low humidity or direct sunlight.

Clean-up:

Cleanup must be done immediately due to high bonding characteristics of LEVELALL.  Clean equipment with water.

Packaging and Yield:

LEVELALL is packaged in 50 lb. (22.7 kg) bags.  One 50 lb. (22.7 kg) bag of LEVELALL will cover an area of 30 square feet (2.8 m2) at 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) thick.

Limitations:

Do not install LEVELALL unless substrate and air temperature is at least 40ºF (4.4ºC) and rising for the next 48 hours.  Do not apply to a frozen surface.  DO NOT USE SOLVENT BASED CURING COMPOUNDS.

CAUTION – FOR INDUSTRIAL USE ONLY:

Freshly mixed cement, mortar, grout, or concrete may cause minor skin irritation.  Avoid direct contact where possible and wash exposed skin areas promptly with water.  If any of the cementitious material gets into the eyes, rinse immediately and repeatedly with water.  If irritation persists, obtain medical assistance.
